Fran Walsh
A West Columbia Gorge Chamber Board member and lead for the Chamber’s Economic Development Committee (EDC), Fran serves the Chamber through her work as the Community Relations Program Manager for Legacy Mount Hood Medical Center in Gresham.
Since joining the Chamber in 2005, Fran and the EDC have spearheaded a push to create an Economic Development Director position for the region. Under her direction, along with that of Committee Chair Steve Vanier, the EDC has been busy this past year researching funding prospects and preparing proposal materials, as well as talking with local government officials for their support. Although additional funds are still needed for the position, the committee has so far been successful in securing funding approval from the city councils for Troutdale, Fairview, and Wood Village, the State of Oregon’s Economic and Community Development Department, and the Chamber. More work remains to be done on this project, but the possibility of an economic development position being created for the area is looking ever more realistic.
